Ollie Gains Role in Participation with AFL Tasmania 

Tasmania Academy of Leadership and Sport (TALS) student, Ollie, has secured a casual position with AFL Tasmania, working in the participation space after gaining valuable experience through multiple placements with Auskick programs.

Gaining Practical Experience 

Throughout his studies, Ollie has been actively involved in the delivery of Auskick, supporting participation programs at the community level. His placements allowed him to: 

  • Assist with session planning and delivery for young participants 

  • Build confidence in managing groups and engaging with families 

  • Develop communication and organisational skills in a sporting environment 

  • Contribute to creating positive, inclusive experiences for children starting their football journey 

Transitioning to Paid Employment 

Ollie’s strong contribution during placements led to the opportunity to step into a casual role with AFL Tasmania. In his position, he will support participation initiatives, with a focus on grassroots programs that encourage young players to get involved in the game. 

A Pathway into the Industry 

This appointment highlights the value of the placement opportunities built into TALS programs. By applying his learning in real-world community settings, Ollie has been able to demonstrate capability, reliability, and passion—leading directly to employment in the sport sector.
